Research Notes-Amanda A.C Eads nee McDaniel-Pt.3

Ok, I am finished with my meeting and want to get back into where I left off in the second post.

In the last post I talked about how I felt that Consadie Eads husband was named J. Allen McDaniel vs. Albert McDaniel as some purport.

Let me end that post by stating there is an Albert McDaniel, he was the son of George Washington McDaniel who is a brother to my Grandmother Amanda A.C McDaniel so Albert would have been her nephew! He married one Ida Jane Summers.

Now, on to the next topic at hand. There are two Amanda McDaniel`s out there (quite possibly more) but for the purpose of this post we will be looking at these two particular ones.

  1. Amanda America Clementine McDaniel wife of William Franklin Eads Sr and my Great, Great Grandmother. She was the daughter of Allen and Rebecca McDaniel.
  2. Amanda "Mandy" McDaniel who was born about 1878 in Iredell County, North Carolina. This Mandy was the daughter of  Allen McDaniel and Kansadie Eades.
It is my firm belief that people out there have these two Amanda`s confused. Thus the purpose of these consecutive posts. To me the solution is as plain as the nose on ones face as I have stated in earlier posts. Lets look at some prior information:

Referring first to my prior post in which I showed the information in an email sent to me by Frieda Wilkerson. Frieda made this statement:

With what we have, I think Amanda A.C McDaniel Eads was the daughter of Consadie and Albert McDaniel and Consadie was the daughter of Gilpen Eads

I agree with part of that statement. That part being that Consadie was the daughter of Gilpen Eades. She was and the records I have prove that to be so.
But what they do not prove is that Amanda America Clementine McDaniel was the daughter of said Consadie and this mysterious man named Alfred McDaniel!

Remember Gilpen Eades will stated his son in law was named Allen not Albert. We rehashed this in part two if you wish to read that. Moving on now, lets look again at her information gained from Hazel Speece Wilson:

"Consadie  grew up and married Albert McDaniel son of Merkie and George McDaniel of Davie, North Carolina. They had children Notie, Daisy, Jack, Vance, Henry, John, Jane and Amanda, they had two children who were deaf-mutes."

Again she mentions this mysterious Albert. All I have been able to prove about any man named Albert McDaniel was the one I posted above who married a Summers. I have also been unable to locate a record for anyone with the name or nickname "Merkie" McDaniel.
So, that leaves the man named George McDaniel. Lets stop here. Amanda America Clementine McDaniel had a brother named George Washington McDaniel. George married a woman named Susannah "Susan" Williams. George and Susan had the following children I can account for:Cordelia, Albert, John,Jasper, Esther, Carrie, Napoleon and George Bonas. (Keep in mind I am not certain about these children as I have yet to dig into Georges history this part could change). Now George and Susan`s son Albert is the one who married a Summers. This Albert was born in 1867 some years after Grandmother Amanda was born so there is no way he could have been her father!

Now Ms. Speece mentions the following children in that passage as being siblings of Grandmother Amanda: Notie, Daisey, Jack, Vance, Henry, John, Jane and Amanda. These children are the children belonging to Kansadie Eads McDaniel and her husband Allen. But they are not Grandmother Amanda`s siblings, instead they are her neices and nephews they belong to her brother Allen McDaniel who married Kansadie Eades!

The 1880 Census for Davie North Carolina lists Grandmother Amanda`s siblings to be named:
  • Mary
  • Letitia
  • George
  • Eli
  • Lewis
  • Allen
  • And a Female Unnamed Infant.
I am now in the process of gathering the information on each of her siblings to see if I can track them down and I will develop a profile of each of them and post it here on my blog.

I think we should stand to reason that the information in the article by Ms. Wilson is incorrect as the records do not back it up. I will post more later this evening as time permits.
