Consadie EADES

Consadie EADES seems to be one of my most popular and mysterious family members. So, in light of that I have chosen to give her, her own page. The main purpose I have for this page is to correct some incorrect or erroneous information out there. Folks on various Genealogical Websites across the net as well as some "historian`s" have been propagating incorrect information.

First let me tell you a little about how Ms. Consadie and I connect. Consadie herself is actually my 1st cousin, 4 x removed! Her Father, Gilpen EADES and my 3rd Great Grandfather John EADES were brothers. So, we share a common ancestor in that of Ezekiel EADES and Mary Polly BARROTT. Ezekiel being Consadies Grandfather and my 4th Great Grandfather.

Are you confused yet? Hold on! Because that is not my only connection to Consadie. She is also my 2nd Great Grand Aunt! Consadie married Albert Allen MCDANIEL son of Allen MCDANIEL and Rebecca BART. Now Allen Sr and Rebecca MCDANIEL are my 3rd Great Grandparents!

Confusion over Consadie

Below are just a few of the rumors surrounding Consadie EADES-McDANIEL.

Rumor: Consadie Rebecca EADES was the mother of Amanda America Clementine MCDANIEL.

This is nothing more than an unsubstantiated rumor at best. There is no proof that Consadie was ever named Rebecca and there is also no proof that she was the mother of Amanda America Clementine MCDANIEL.

In fact, there is hard evidence to the contrary! Let me explain. I am going to do this in the form of comparisons. Let us first look at the facts.

1. Amanda America Clementine McDANIEL`s date of birth: 4 November, 1834 in Rowan County, North Carolina.
2. Consadie Fanny EADES date of birth: 1854 in Iredell County, North Carolina

Dont take my word for it, look at the Death Record below for Consadie EADES MCDANIEL

Alright so now we have proof when Consadie was actually born according to her death certificate. So now we need to ask ourselves where was my Great Grandmother Amanda America Clementine MCDANIEL in 1852?

As you can see from the copy of the Census record above, Amanda America Clementine MCDANIEL was living in the house with her parents Allen and Rebecca MCDANIEL and Amanda was about 16 when this census was taken.

So now we know that in 1850: Consadie was not even born yet! And Amanda was 16. That proves that Amanda was NOT the daughter of Consadie. But for those of you who still cannot swallow that proof, her is another one for you.

2. Rumor:Albert and Consadie had a daughter named Amanda and that Amanda was Amanda America Clementine MCDANIEL.

That rumor is also false! First we have already proven that Amanda A.C MCDANIEL was 16 in 1850. Albert and Consadies daughter Amanda was born in 1878, she first appears on the 1880 Census at the age of 2 years.

Source Citation: Year: 1880; Census Place: New Hope, Iredell, North Carolina; Roll: 968; Family History Film: 1254968; Page: 227C; Enumeration District: 153; Image: 0765.

Now as you can see Grandmother Amanda was 44 years old when her niece Amanda MCDANIEL was born!

3. Rumor: this is a continuation of rumor number one above

Grandmother Amanda had a younger sister named: Margaret. Margaret MCDANIEL married one Noah LAMBERT. I have located the Death Certificate for Margaret MCDANIEL LAMBERT and her mothers maiden name was listed on it. It states her mother (Rebecca`s) maiden name to be: BART

The records speak for themselves. I hope that those out there who run across this will not just take my word for it but do some research yourselves. The information is out there. It is my desire that this mess get corrected and everyone has the correct and accurate sourced information.

As of 3 June, 2014 there are still articles being published online and even in Newspapers by a certain local "historian" who has not bothered to check nor correct the facts. I wish that folks understood this is serious. A mistake such as this could deter someones whole family tree! When you assign a person to the wrong parents all sorts of things crop up. I take my work very seriously. I am not saying I do not make mistakes, everyone does. But I am 100% certain where this is concerned that my information is correct.
