Elizabeth Wright-Click-Acord-Reeves
Todays story is about my maternal 2nd Great Grandmother Elizabeth WRIGHT. Grandmother Elizabeth was born 29 October, 1834 in Davidson County, North Carolina. She was the second oldest daughter of Clayton WRIGHT & Anna SNIDER.
The first record that Grandmother Elizabeth likely appeared on would have been the 1840 Census for Davidson County, North Carolina in the household of her father Clayton WRIGHT. She would have been about six years old and so this is how I have arrived that the place of her birth was likely in Davidson County, North Carolina.
By the 1850 Census the family has moved to Cocke County, Tennessee. Elizabeth is 15 years old and still living in the household with her parents Clayton WRIGHT & Anna SNIDER.
On 26 December, 1854 Elizabeth married one Preston W CLICK son of George Lewis CLICK and Margaret Peggy JONES. To this union was one daughter born, my great grand aunt Julie Ann CLICK, Julie was born 17 December, 1855 in Cocke County, Tennessee. Aunt Julie married my 1st cousin, 2 times removed one Amos R ACORD son of Richard Hamilton ACORD & Sarah LAMBERT. So due to that marriage Aunt Julie became my cousin by marriage as well as my great grand aunt!
Grandmother Elizabeth was not the only WRIGHT daughter to marry into the CLICK family, two of her sisters did as well. Her oldest sister Nancy WRIGHT married William CLICK also a brother to Preston CLICK and son of George Lewis CLICK and Margaret Peggy JONES. Elizabeth and Nancy`s sister Mary Ann first married another brother of Preston & William CLICK one Harvey E. CLICK.
Many thanks to Carolyn Whitaker who has spent extensive hours researching the CLICK family and has compiled a website about them which you can see HERE Ms. Whitaker states that the CLICK family were the real family portrayed in the Television Series "Christy". Any CLICK family member should find her website of most interest to them, I know I sure did.
Preston W. CLICK died 26 Aug 1856 and was buried in Bat Harbor in Cocke County, Tennessee. After his death Grandmother Elizabeth sold the home and packed up her belongings and left via wagon train with her father and some more family members. They made their way to Hamilton County, Illinois. It is there where she met and married my 2nd Great Grandfather Martin Van Buren ACORD son of Job Jacob ACORD & Mary Polly HARPER.
Twelve children were born to their union, seven sons and five daughters, one of which was my great grandmother Rachael ACORD. Elizabeth was grandfather Martins second wife, his first wife was that of Nancy LAMBERT. Nancy has been a brick wall for me, to this date I have been unable to locate her parents. Martin & Nancy had eight children, three daughters and five sons born of their marriage.
After Grandfather Martin ACORD died, Grandmother Elizabeth married for the third time to one William REEVES, they were married on 22 August, 1886 in Morley, Scott County, Missouri. After Mr. REEVES died, Grandmother Elizabeth was living in the household of her daughter and son in law Sampson SHERRY.
Grandmother Elizabeth died 1 August, 1912 in Ripley County, Missouri.
