Childhood Christmases
With Christmas just a couple weeks away I thought I would take the time to reflect on my own childhood Christmases. I remember this particular one all too well, it must have been about 1975, I was about 7 years old in this picture. Like any child I had a favorite toy that I so wanted Santa to bring me that year. My parents were not well to do and we scraped by the best we could. The look on my mothers face in this photo is priceless. I can only imagine the satisfaction in her heart at being able to give me the one thing I wanted that year. I had seen the new Baby Alive Doll and wanted it so bad. I remember that year when my father decided to take out a loan just to be able to have Christmas for his family. We had just came home from shopping and as you can see my mother did not even take the time to wrap the doll. She must have known how much it would have broke my heart to have to wait. I am very much my mothers daughter because I could never make my children wait till Christmas either. I got many hours of play out of that doll that year. I remembered how much it meant to me so a couple years ago I bought each of my granddaughters their very own Baby Alive Doll. Christmas through the eyes of a child, what a treasure!
