Update on our Grandson
I just wanted to post an update on our grandson and to let everyone know that I have not forgotten about this blog. I have just been extremely busy with my grandson of course being my top priority right now. I will do my best to get back to posting Genealogical information on this blog as soon as possible. If you have contacted me as a result of a DNA match to my husband or myself please know that I am not ignoring you, I just have a lot on my plate right now. Our grandson was born on September 15th with a Congenital Heart Defect called Tetraology of Fallot with Absent Pulmonary Valve. He was also diagnosed with 22q11.2 Deletion Syndrome aka DiGeorge Syndrome. He is missing parts of Chromosome 22 which sets him up for the heart issues as well as a host of other medical problems. On October 1st he had the first of several Open Heart Surgeries that he will require over the course of his lifetime. The procedure exceeded seven hours and the doctors are not sure that it is going to help his breathing issues at all. They left his chest open for a few days, they finally closed it yesterday. He will likely spend anywhere from six to nine months in the hospital. He may eventually require a Tracy tube and or a pacemaker depending on how he responds to this surgery. He should not need another Open Heart Procedure until he is about five years old. As you can imagine he has been my top focus these past few weeks and I have had little time or energy to devote to anything else. Once we are sure he is going to be ok I will get back to my research and will once again be sharing family history information here on this blog. In the meantime let me just say that I appreciate your patience and understanding during this difficult time in our lives.
