Korean War Photos

Today I have been scanning in quite a few old photos that I got from my mothers many boxes of pictures a few months back. In them were a bunch of my Father Floyd "Junior" EADS who served in the Korean War in the early 1950`s. I do not have dads military record file so I am uncertain as to what unit he was in. However there were a couple photos of some of his buddies that I will be uploading soon as well. I am hoping perhaps some of those guys family members might recognize them. I would love to be able to give those photos to a child or grandchild of those men. I would hope someone would do the same thing for me if they had photos of my loved ones. There are some men in the background of this photograph I have posted to the left. I do not have these gentleman's names, as they were not listed on the back of my fathers photograph. Dad had a habit of writing love notes to my mother on the back of his Military Photographs and sending them home to my mother, she in turn would send back a photo of herself with a love note on the back of it as well.

On the back of the photo to the left dad has written to the best of my transcribing:

"Somewhere in Korea 1951" and above that there is an address that he has crossed through. It is written in Blue Ink and it states:

202 South Kingshighway, Sikeston, Mo

I do not know what the address has in common with the photograph. This is all written if the photo is turned sideways. However, if you turn it straight there is some wording that is faded out and I can only make out very few of those letters. I was hoping by scanning them in at Grey Scale they would show up enough to read them but as you can see from the copy I scanned below they are not even legible. But from what I gathered someone has printed the following on the back of the photograph:

Korea (the next word is illegible and it looks as though Korea may have been spelled with a C verses a K) the next word I could make out was:Near and there is another word after that but it is quite illegible. The photograph in and of itself is very fragile and old.

As you can see at the left hand side there is the illegible writing, though it is not very clear. This appears to be my fathers hand writing

This last photograph was not taken in Korea but it is my Father on the left and his brother Ted on the right. Floyd Junior EADS and Lloyd Gene "Teddy" EADS both in their uniforms. Dad was in the Army and I believe Uncle Ted was in the Air Force, but not certain.

I will be uploading more family photographs in the days to come!
