Fannie Eades McDaniels-Research Notes

Kansadie Eades McDaniels was born 1854 from what records I have seen.
Fannie McDaniels was born 1856 from what records I have seen.

Records show Kansadie to have been married to one J. Allen McDaniels.
Records show Fannie to have been married to one Albert Allen McDaniels

The question is: Are Kansadie and Fannie Eades McDaniels sisters or are they the same person?

Since both daughters were born after 1850 the earliest census they might appear on would be the 1860 census. Lets look at what we find on the 1860 Census for the family of Gilpen Eades. Keep in mind that Kansadie would have been 6 years old and Fannie would have been 4 years old.

1860 Census-Fraileys District-Iredell County, North Carolina

The only children we find listed on this census for Gilpen and Patsey Eades are:

  • Jennie
  • Amanda
  • Rainey
  • Nancy
  • Fannie-age 4
Given the fact that there is no daughter named Kansadie on this census and that said Kansadie would have been only 6 years old we know she was not married then. It stands to reason in my eyes then that Kansadie/Consadie/Sadie Eades McDaniels and Fannie McDaniels are one and the same person. We find them on later census records with the same children. So it is my belief that Fanny was a nickname used for Kansadie.
