Noteworthy Ancestors

This week I have been spending quite a bit of my research hours putting together some missing links in my husband’s family tree. I dug out some of my old files and found some information that I had had for several years, as I was going back through it I noticed something that I had ran across during that time period.
I have decided to begin adding some fun findings to my blog. I will be doing a series of posts on some of our "famous" or not so, ancestors. Each one I have researched in great deal and am absolutely certain they link to our lines or I do not post them here. This is the first of those posts.

Martha Allen Carrier

My husband is descended from Martha ALLEN-CARRIER one of the women who was accused of practicing witchcraft during the Salem Witch Trials. Martha is his 9thGreat, Grand Aunt. The chart below shows how he is descended from Faith INGALLS the mother of Martha ALLEN CARRIER. Faith is my husbands 10th Great Grandmother.

I am not going to attempt to elaborate on the story of Martha ALLEN CARRIER or Goody CARRIER as she was called. There are plenty of stories online where one can read about her in depth.
I recently got into digital scrap booking and I love it. I am in the process of compiling one complete album with all of our noteworthy ancestors in it. I just finished my first set of layouts for that particular album and I am going to begin to work on the story of Martha ALLEN CARRIER this week and add that to my album as well. I may share some of those layouts in the future.
If you notice the repetition of the name Granderson within this line, my husband was also given the name Granderson as his middle name. We are unsure of where that name actually came from other than it having been passed down from his Great Grandfathers.

New EADS Info Added!

I wanted to post an update and let my readers know that I have added a new page on this blog. It is called Wayne County Missouri Roots. You will find the link at the top. What I have added on that page is my direct paternal line. My EADS family settled in Wayne County, Missouri after having came here from Iredell and Davie County, North Carolina along with some members of the McDANIEL family. I will be adding more content in the days to come as I have some other EADS and MCDANIEL ancestors to add to the page. For the most part it currently contains my Direct line from my Paternal Grandfather and his siblings all the way up to my 2nd Great Grandparents.

In spite of all my efforts I am still seeing some incorrect information floating around concerning Consadie EADES. I know I have been beating a dead horse here (no disrespect intended) but it is imperative that this erroneous information get corrected. I have updated Consadie`s page with some actual documentations verses just my word.

NOTE: If you came here due to a surname tag you will find the surname you are searching for on the Wayne County page of this website. Click the tab across the top task bar.

Charles Hickman "Hick" Allen

  Charles Hickman "Hick" Allen

1870 Census-Logan Township,Wayne, Missouri

  • Charles Allen (b) abt 1830 in Tennessee
  • Artensission (Artimessia??) (b) 1840 in Missouri
  • Melinda (b) 1858
  • Thomas (b) 1860
  • Annie (b) 1864
  • Mary (b) 1868
  • Susan (b) 1870
*Rumor has it that Hick as he was called married a Native American Woman. This census spells her name: Artensission however, it reminded me of another spelling of someone in my family, her name was Artimessia so I have to wonder if this was just a misspelling for Artimessia.

1910 Census-St. Francois, Wayne, Missouri

  • Charley H. Allen-(b) 1840 in Tennessee-Father-in-Law
  • William T. Huggins (b) 1870 in Missouri
  • Sarah Huggins (b) 1875
  • Mary Huggins-age 7-b.1903
  • Francis Huggins-age 3-b.1907
  • William Huggins-age 1-b.1909
Charley is listed as Widowed and his Mother born in North Carolina and his Father in Tennessee.

* This particular individual requires more in-depth research. I will be adding to this post as soon as I track down extra information on this family.
