Sentimental Sunday: My Mother

As a child growing up in the seventies the one thing I remember the most about my mother is how she always smelled so good.
Momma was a very clean person, she took the scripture that says Cleanliness is next to Godliness quite literally!
She loved Roses and Perfume and Stockings and all the dainty things that made women of that era feel good about themselves.
I remember one thing in particular that my mother had that I absolutely loved. I had an older sister who sold Avon and she was always giving momma and myself something that she had got from Avon. Mom had this one Powder Duster that smelled so good, even to this day, I can still smell it. After her daily bath she would get all spruced up and put on some of this powder and I associated that scent with momma.

I was adding some things to my Pinterest Board and I ran across this image and decided to share it here. This is an identical box of that Powder that momma had.

Everytime I see this or anything that momma had when I was a kid I am transported back several years and I can see mommas bedroom and the dresser with all her pretty little things sitting there and how I loved to look at all her decanters and smell her perfume and lotions, she would always let me have just a little to make me feel like a grown up girl. I guess that is where I get my love for pretty things and lotions and perfumes as well as pearls and the color pink. Anything Vintage and Victorian reminds me of her.

Do you have a favorite memory or item from your childhood? I would like to know about it, feel free to leave me a comment and we can reminisce together!
