Maddie was our daughters third child. Her pregnancy was complicated by a history of preterm labor, which caused her first child to be born at 28 weeks gestation. She had to have shots once a week throughout the last part of her pregnancy just to be able to carry to term.
Both of her first two daughters were born after only about an hour and a half of labor so why should Miss Maddie be any different? Or so we thought!
We spent all night walking the floor of the hospital trying to get labor to progress! She labored a total of 19.5 hours before Miss Maddie made her appearance into the world! I was present at the birth and got to cut the cord and hold her before her mother even had a chance to. I carried her to the nursery to be weighed. I have been fortunate to have been present at the birth of all four of our grandchildren and each of them holds a special place in my heart. Happy Birthday Miss Madlynn Grace!
