Surname Saturday: Bouse Surname

Today`s Surname Saturday post is about the BOUSE Surname. My husbands maternal grandmother was one Stella D. BOUSE.
According to the Dictionary of Family Names (2013) the BOUSE Surname is defined as: Czech (BouĊĦe): see Bouska. Possibly a variant of North German Buse.
According to Ancestry website the origins of the surname are: Bohemia, Germany, Ireland, and England, followed by Austria and Hungary.
Some of the variant spellings included but are not limited to:Bowse, Bowess,Bowser, Boase,Bouchier,Boucher and many others.
Some say the surname has its roots in Normandy and Ireland. One of the first known BOUSE men to settle on U.S Soil was one Thomas BOUSE who landed in Maryland circa 1680.
Some occupations for persons of this surname were: Farmer, Laborer and Bayman.
Of all the BOUSE men who fought in the Civil war, which were very few from statistics I gathered from Ancestry website, it seems only 28 men total fought and 26 of those men were on the Union side, leaving just 2 on the Confederate side.
According to Find the Data website; there are 1169 people with the surname BOUSE in the United States.
