I wanted to take the time to tell you about a source that I use in order to help locate information. Some of you may not be aware that this source exists as I wasn't. But Ancestry has published a book called The Red Book: American State, County and Town Resources. It is a wonderful book just filled with information to assist us on our research tasks.
In case your budget is somewhat limited like mine, you can find the entire book online on Ancestry`s Wiki Site. I have published the link above.
The project was digitized in 2010. There is also another neat source provided by Ancestry called: The Source: A Guidebook of American Genealogy.
It has also been digitized in its entirety by the wonderful folks at Ancestry dot com website. I thought that these two resources were very valuable to Genealogists as a whole and have decided to post them here in case anyone else was not aware that they do exist.
And of course both of these books are in print format should you decide you would rather purchase a bound edition to keep with you at all times. I have seen them on Amazon website and they are probably available elsewhere as well. Your local library may have a copy in their reference section also.
