Grover Cleveland Esterline

Grover Cleveland Esterline was born 20 Sept 1885 in Evansville, Spencer, Indiana. He was the son of John Wesley Esterline JR and Mary Ann Esterline nee Farmer.

By 1900 Grover had moved with his parents to Bernie, Stoddard, Missouri area. It was there he met and married Miss Cora Mae Wilkey, daughter of James Virgil Wilkey and Rachael Acord Wilkey. They were married 3 Nov. 1906 in Bloomfield, Stoddard, Missouri.

Cora and Cleve as he was lovingly called resided in the Bootheel area of Southeast Missouri. Living near the towns of Bernie, Malden, Gideon and Hornersville as well as Kennett. By 1918 they had relocated to the Manila, Mississippi County, Arkansas area.

Cora and Cleve had ten children together. Grandmother Cora was actually pregnant fifteen times but she miscarried five of those babies. They lost three of the ten children when they were in early infancy. Their childrens names were:

  • Rosetta Urinah Jane Esterline-3 Feb 1909
  • Burgess Esterline-2 April 1911
  • Johnnie Esterline-7 Nov. 1913
  • Millie Esterline-9 May 1916
  • Everett Lee Fillmore Esterline-23 Dec 1918
  • Laura Melvina Wisteria Esterline-9 Sept 1921
  • Taylor Augustus "T.A" Esterline-25 Aug 1924
  • Geneva Esterline 1927
  • Mary Margaret Esterline 22 Nov. 1931
On 6 October 1939 Cleve and Cora divorced. On 7 October, 1939 just one day after their divorce was finalized Grandpa married a woman by the name of Annie Ray. She had three children from a prior marriage named:William, Lucille and J.D Ray.

Grandpa and Annie resided in Riverdale, Poinsett County, Arkansas. Grandpa passed away on 22 January, 1963 and was laid to rest in the Bernie Memorial Cemetery, Bernie, Stoddard, Missouri.
