Eli Wyatt Eads

Eli Wyatt Eads was born 10 March 1862 in Davie County, North Carolina. He was the son of William Franklin Eads and Amanda America Clementine Eads nee McDaniel. He married one Mary Alice Allen. Mary was born 11 December, 1867 somewhere in Tennessee and she died 17 January, 1924 in Parma, New Madrid, Missouri she was buried at Stevens Cemetery in Parma, New Madrid, Missouri.

The 1900 Census for St. Francois Twp. Wayne, Missouri enumerated on June 12-13,1900 shows the family listed as follows:

  • Eli Wyatt Eads-age 37
  • Mary A. Eads.age 32-born December, 1867
  • Benjamen Franklin Eads-age 13-born Nov. 1886
  • Henry H. Eads-age 11-born Jan. 1889
  • Lucy M. Eads-age 9-born Jan.1891
  • Eli M. Eads-age 7-born March 1893
  • Frances B. Eads-age 4-Born Sept 1895
  • Louis Eads-age 2-Feb 1897
Mary and Eli had been married 14 years when this census was taken. It also states that Mary is the mother of 6 living children.

The 1910 Census For St. Francois Wayne County lists Eli and his wife Mary and the following children:

  • Lucy age 19
  • Eli age 17
  • Belle age 14 (Frances Belle)
  • Edward-age 10 (Louis?)
  • Jane-age 8
  • Joseph-age 6
  • Bessie-age 2
 By 1910 we add three more children to the family so now we show a total of them having had: 9 Children.

By the 30 of March,1920 Census the family has left Wayne County and moved to Parma, Como Township, New Madrid County, Missouri. This Census shows Eli and wife Mary and the following members of the household:

  • Joseph A.-Son-Age 15
  • Meacie B. (Bessie)-Daughter-age 11 yrs,7 mos
  • Nellie Q.-age 6 yrs, 3 mos
  • Eli M. age 2yrs-2 mos
  • Lilly Mae-Daughter-in-Law-age 25
  • Jennie N.-age 1-Granddaughter
Living right next to them in the next household was their son Louis E. age 22 and Daughter-in-law, Linda, age 22.

 By 1930, Eli`s wife Mary had passed away and he was now living with their oldest son and his wife in Scott Twp., Poinsett, Arkansas. The members of that household were as follows:

  • Benjamen Franklin Eads-age 43
  • Zella Eads nee Sheets-age 37
  • Eli W.-Father-age 67
  • Lottie A. Sheets-age 24-Sis-in-Law
  • Rosie M. Edwards-age 5-Niece (I assume this is Lottie`s Daughter)
Eli is listed as having been Married 21 years but listed as Widowed. We know from Mary Alice death certificate that she passed away in 1924.

1935- Residence inferred from 1940 Census as Rural, Dunklin County, Missouri.

1940 Census-Duck Creek Twp.,Stoddard, Missouri Census enumerated on 5 April, 1940

  • Mac Eads (Eli Mac) age 46 Head of Household
  • Lillie-age 45
  • Edward-age 18
  • Willie-age 16
  • Charlie-age 14
  • Ruby-age 12
  • Robert-age 10
  • Roy-age 8
  • Ray-age 6
  • Richard-age 4
  • E.W Eads-Father-age 78
 Eli Wyatt Eads passed away 1 April, 1942 in Duck Creek, Stoddard County, Missouri. He was laid to rest in New Prospect Cemetery in Silva, Wayne, Missouri
