William Harrison FARMER

William Harrison Farmer was my Great Grand Uncle. I have recently began tracking my FARMER family ancestors and thought I would compile an entry on each of them. I chose to begin with Uncle William since he was the oldest child belonging to my second great grandparents Ezekiel FARMER and Florinda Jane CAMPBELL.

I have a Biographical Sketch that I would like to share that was originally published by the Good Speed Publishing Company in 1885.

WILLIAM H. FARMER, a prominent citizen and farmer of Skelton Township, Warrick Co., Ind., is a native of the township where he now resides, born November 25, 1844, the oldest son in a family of eight children born to Ezekiel and Florinda J. (Campbell) Farmer. He lived at home with his parents until March 9, 1865, when he married Miss Sarah L. Lankford. who was born December 6, 1845, daughter of William and Agnes (Phillips) Lankford, who were residents of Warrick County. Mr. and Mrs. Farmer are the parents of the following named family of children: Florinda A., Nancy J., William W. (deceased), Mary E. and Ira J. Mr. Farmer turns his attention principally to farming and owns 142 acres of well improved land. He and wife are independent in their religious views, belonging to no particular sect or denomination, and in politics he is a Democrat.

The information that I have for uncle William states that he had the following children:

Florinda A. FARMER

The only information that I was able to find for any Florinda A FARMER listed her as being the daughter of William FARMER and one Anna Jane FIELDS. Perhaps Uncle William was previously married to a woman named Anna FIELDS?  If this Florinda is the correct one she was born 5 August, 1858 and died 1 August, 1917. She married one Newton Jasper DAWDY, son of Jessee A. DAWDY and Mary Jane COX.

William W. FARMER

William was the infant son of William H. FARMER and Sarah LANKFORD. He was born 2 January, 1871 and died 15 September, 1873 in Folsomville, Warrick, Indiana.

Mary E. FARMER

Mary was the daughter of William H FARMER and Sarah LANKFORD. She was born 5 January, 1873 in Indiana. Mary married a man with the surname of HAAS. I have been unable to locate any information on their marriage or if they had any children. May died 27 January, 1896 in Folsomville, Warrick, Indiana.

Ira Jane FARMER

Ira Jane was the son of William H FARMER and Sarah LANKFORD. Ira was born 5 August, 1875 in Indiana, he married one Ada C. HESSON, daughter of Daniel & Margaret HESSON.

Nancy FARMER

Nancy was the daughter of William H FARMER and Sarah LANKFORD. Nancy died when she was eleven (11) years old. She was born in 1880 and died in 1891.

William Harrison FARMER died 15 August, 1924 in Middletown, Henry, Indiana. He was laid to rest at Bethebara Cemetery in Folsomville, Warrick, Indiana. His wife Sarah died 14 December, 1895 and was buried in the same cemetery as her late husband.
